ReplyDeleteWow. I can not even remember my first race. That was too long ago. I could make something up but just so you know, I simply donot remember. But before every race now, I feel nervous excitement. Sometimes it caused me to go out too fast. A few times it almost caused me to throw up at the start! My up coming race I hope I will not have to deal with too much nervousness. Throwing up at the start of a 50k probably would not be too good! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI am linking you giveaway in my post for tomorrow!

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh...how I felt before my first 5K: I was scared to death. Luckily I parked right by the start (like 10 feet) and I could see the check in tables and watch everyone warm up. I was there super early and got checked in right away and headed back to my car. I was so nervous, I thought I might puke. I actually contemplated leaving and going back home without racing. I sat in the car until the very last second and finally lined up-in the way back. I'm happy I didn't leave, but I was so nervous and anxious!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am now a fan on facebook :)

ReplyDeleteI would like a plain, black bondi band. My shorts and shoes are usually crazy colors, so the black would go with everything! What a wonderful giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI posted a link on my blog! :)
ReplyDeleteMy first race was on my 30th birthday. I had just started running in September, and wanted to run a 5K in January. I was so proud of myself for finally being able to run 3.1 miles without stopping or needing to catch my breath. Now it's 7 years later, and I've run two marathons and several half-marathons. Running has forever changed my life for the better!

ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for giraffe print so I'd have to go with the prehistoric or the bella - I have a ton of long hair that's always flying around, so I could use one of these!!
ReplyDeleteMy first race ever was a 10k and I told my friend right before that I was more nervous about that race than I was about taking the bar exam!! That was a pretty bold statement to make, but it was true -- I thought I was going to throw up!

ReplyDeleteMy first race was the Honolulu marathon and I ran it by myself. I lived on the Big Island and flew over to O'ahu for the race. I really didn't have a clue as to what I was doing and just hoped I could finish.
ReplyDeleteI signed up for the race 7 weeks before after seeing the start and finish of the Ironman go by my place of work. I worked at a pizza and pasta joint and served thousands of athletes and was totally inspired! I did finish the marathon but I walked and cried a few times!
I thought right before the race that it was the most exciting and surreal thing I had ever participated in! There were 35 thousand people in the race and huge teams of Japanese runners that flew over for the race!

ReplyDeleteMy stomach was in knots before my first race. My teeth were chattering -- I dont' think it was the October cool breeze ... but nerves!! things were so different "back then". I think of all I've learned over the past few years.
ReplyDeleteMy first race? I was a nervous race. I thought everyone would be so much faster than I was and that I would be the slowest person there and the last person to cross the finish line. I felt slow and unprepared...I was neither.
ReplyDeleteAnd somehow those feelings STILL come across me before every race, and every race they are shot down.
